Few bands can lay claim to selling nearly 20 million albums, and fewer yet have had more top five rock radio hits than Linkin Park and Metallica. Godsmack is that band. Whether they got their name from an Alice ‘N’ Chains song or not, (which is debatable depending on who you talk to), they’ve been influenced by AIC’s music, along with a healthy dose of Metallica, Sabbath, and Zeppelin, particularly the softer side of Zep as evidenced on Godsmack staples like ‘Serenity’ and ‘Running Blind’…but don’t let that fool you. Godsmack is one of the most ferocious bands in the business. Rolling Stone called them tough as nails and cranked to eleven, and Sully Erna says their newest album, The Oracle, “will be a lot more in your face. I don’t think there’s going to be any ‘Voodoo’s or ‘Serenity’s on this one. We decided to go balls out!” The new CD drops May 4th.
